The Panama office will support Unifeeder’s Latin America (LATAM) operations, working closely with the global headquarters in Denmark. The company anticipates handling over 200,000 twenty-foot containers (TEUs) and completing 800 port calls in the region during 2024, with further expansion planned in the coming years.

Unifeeder’s strategic focus on the Americas as a key location for regional and global trade led to the launch of these new routes in 2023 and 2024:

  • March 2023: Hispaniola-Puerto Rico service to enhance cargo flow between the Dominican Republic, Haiti, and Puerto Rico.
  • February 2024: Colombia-Panama service to benefit exporters of time-sensitive products like fresh fruit, connecting North Colombian ports with Manzanillo in Panama.
  • April 2024: New direct feeder services linking Venezuelan ports with the ABC islands, offering competitive transit times and accommodating various container sizes.

“Opening offices in key markets like Panama and introducing new feeder services allows us to provide enhanced logistics options for our customers and positively impact the local economy,” commented Jesper Kristensen, Group CEO at Unifeeder Group and Group COO Marine Services at DP World.

Morten Johansen, EVP Americas at DP World, further emphasised the importance of LATAM as a logistics hub due to its emerging markets and abundant natural resources. He highlighted that the new office and feeder routes represent a significant step towards becoming the region’s preferred logistics partner.
