Checks carried out by traffic police in Sardinia earlier this week found that almost 25% of the lorry drivers in the vehicles they inspected were guilty of violations.
The operation involved 52 traffic police officers, supported by 14 judicial police operators.
261 drivers in 215 lorries were inspected in total. 65 truckers were found to have been guilty of violations – 46 of those violations were related to tachograph fraud and/or breaking drivers’ hours rules.
