This unique delivery van consists of a truck-tractor and an interchangeable body, which allows it to increase its payload by 50%.
For several weeks now at its Hoppegarten branch near Berlin, Rhenus Home Delivery has been testing a new and unusual van from French manufacturer Maxicargo.
The vehicle consists of a tractor and a detachable body. It is used for last-mile deliveries and has a 50% higher payload compared to a standard vehicle with GVW of up to 3.5 tonnes.
Due to its load capacity being up to 1.5 tonnes, it is particularly suitable for the transport of heavy, bulky shipments. As Rhenus points out, a category B driving licence is required to drive the vehicle, which makes it much easier for the operator to find drivers.
According to the company, the application of this unusual solution opens up new possibilities for optimising deliveries in large cities – both in terms of the economy and the environment.
