Electrolux Group has announced the installation of a fast charging electric truck charging system at its Susegana (TV) production site, the first of its kind for the company.
The fast charging station, created in partnership with Scania, is currently used by an e-truck that travels between Electrolux’s factory and a component supplier, covering hundreds of km daily.
“Electrolux Group is recognised as a leader in sustainability in its sector thanks to concrete action plans. We were one of the first 100 companies in the world to set a science-based climate target, which we achieved three years early in 2023. Recently, we went a step further by committing to reduce direct and indirect emissions from our industrial operations by 85% and emissions from the use of our products, materials, product transportation and business travel by 42% between 2021 and 2030,” explains Alessandro Danti, Operations Sustainability Director BA Europe & APAC. The fast charging station for e-trucks just inaugurated in Susegana fits perfectly into this framework as, when we talk about transport, the electrification of vehicles is an important driver for achieving our sustainability objectives”.
Luisa Cinel, Safety & Sustainability manager Operations BA EA, added:
“Thanks to this new station, we estimate we will achieve an initial annual saving of around 55 tonnes of CO2, which may increase with the inclusion of new e-trucks.”
The Susegana site was chosen by Electrolux as a pilot project as it offers the possibility of extending the use of electric vehicles to other flows, thanks to some peculiarities such as, for example, the centrality with respect to local component suppliers, the proximity to the hubs of intermodal transport, replenishment of the distribution warehouse in Italy, or deliveries directly to customers.
The charging station is equipped with two stations that have a charging power ranging from 240 to 300 kW, with the possibility of providing an upgrade to 4 stations and 320 kW, and with peaks of up to 400 kW.
It is said to be ideal for the latest generation e-trucks, with a 40-ton e-truck able to be charged in 90 minutes.
