Trucker escapes with minor injuries after causing cabin explosion while making coffee

A lorry driver has escaped serious harm after an explosion occurred while he was making coffee in his vehicle's cabin.

According to Stadt Eltmann Fire Brigade, the explosion damaged the cab. An image shared by the fire brigade shows a shattered windscreen and a damaged door.

It is believed repairing the damage would cost 80,000 euros.

Fortunately, the driver was able to get himself out of the vehicle and only needed treatment for minor injuries.

The accident occurred in a lorry park near Eltmann on the A70 last week.

Police later confirmed the explosion was the result of the 46-year-old lorry driver using a gas canister to make coffee.
