The ADP London planning application for the facility was made in January and was voted through last Friday by councillors.

Given the UK’s chronic lack of HGV parking places, any new development such is as this is more than welcome. However, the site only has a capacity for 20 spaces and shall be reserved for 3 haulage companies.

“Around 20 vehicles (HGV) will be operated from this site. The majority of these leave the site in the morning and will not return by the end of the day. Consequently, the number of vehicles entering and leaving the site (maneuvering of lorries) result of congestion and preventing the free flow of traffic will have a very small impact during day,” reads the planning application.

The lorry park is to be built on the site of a former gasworks just a 2-minute drive from the entrance to Felixstowe Port.

It is believed that the facility will bring 10 new jobs to the area.
