The OBC service is designed to meet the needs of companies facing unforeseen logistical challenges. Examples include the urgent shipment of critical automotive parts to prevent production line stoppages, or the short-term delivery of essential medical equipment to hospitals.

With this new service, DB Schenker is expanding its air freight capabilities,” said Thorsten Meincke, Global Board Member for Air & Ocean Freight at DB Schenker. The OBC service ensures we can meet the most demanding and time-sensitive requirements of our customers, regardless of location.”

DB Schenker has established a dedicated OBC service team operating across three continents to ensure 24/7 availability. Customers can receive a quote within minutes and have a courier dispatched immediately to personally accompany the shipment on a commercial flight. This minimises the risk of loss or damage and ensures the fastest possible delivery.

We recognise that every shipment is unique, said Stefan Pargfrieder, Vice President Global Air Freight Strategy & Development at DB Schenker. As a full-service logistics provider, we strive to be a problem solver for our customers. The OBC service addresses situations where the true value of an item lies in its immediate availability, not just its purchase price.

While DB Schenker has previously handled occasional OBC requests, this launch formalises the service as a standardised offering available to customers worldwide, particularly in the automotive, electronics, high-end fashion and healthcare industries.
