Haydock Commercial Vehicles Ltd, the Scania dealer for the Preston-Liverpool-Warrington area, as well as Chester and north Wales, has invested £2.7m in a purpose-built, state-of-the-art service centre built on land opposite its current Preston site.

Work at the new centre began on Monday, prompting the old workshop to be demolished to make way for an extension to the site’s  parking area for trucks, trailers, buses and coaches.

Once complete, the new site will cover 2.5 acres of land next to Junction 29 of the M6.

Haydock Commercial Vehicles Chairman, Simon Dykes, said he was „proud” of the investment, and added that the company are committed to the area:

„Preston Scania has long been a key site for us, and our success in the area has necessitated this development. The new facility is the latest step up for us, following on from the opening of our flagship Warrington site two years ago, and reinforces our long-term commitment to the area’s transport operators and our position at the leading-edge of commercial vehicle service in the North West.”

The new premises feature seven 28-metre workshop bays with three 22-metre pits, with a door height of five-metres that allows access for trailers and double-deck buses. Equipped with new brake rollers, tachograph calibration equipment and a range of special tools, the premises also benefit from LED lighting.
