The French will raise diesel taxes by more than 10% The French government confirmed that the taxes will be raised just as it was announced by their predecessors.

According to preliminary estimates, the price for a litre of diesel will increase in stations by average of 8 cents, writes „Les Echos”, a French newspaper.

We will provide coherence between the prices of petrol and diesel in 4 years at a rate of 2.6 cent per year – said Bruno Le Maire, the French minister of economy and finance.

Macron’s government also announced an increase of petrol tax, although he assures that it will not have a significant influence on prices at service stations.
Les Echos stresses that the French politicians want to increase not only revenues to the budget with the price increases but also stimulate the market of vehicles powered by alternative fuels.

We would like to recall that in accordance with the plan of the French minister of the environment before 2040 France wants to withdraw vehicles with combustion engines from sale.
