A Lithuanian transport company had to pay a fine of 18, 000 euros in Germany for an offence related to the tachograph and the SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) system. This manipulation and violation of the law were not worthwhile.

According to the German police from Brandenburg, in the city of Fehrbellin, road traffic officers stopped a truck, registered in Lithuania, for inspection. In the course of routine activities, police officers detected an advanced system in the vehicle, which allows for the manipulation of tachograph records. It allowed recording resting time while the driver was actually driving.

In addition, the German police found another offence – the SCR system in the truck was modified. An indicator light showed abnormal consumption of AdBlue reagent.

Both systems have been removed from the vehicle and secured.

In connection with manipulation, proceedings were initiated both against the driver and the company – penal and in a case punishable by a fine. In order for the driver to continue the journey, it was necessary to bring the vehicle to a proper technical condition and to pay a deposit of EUR 18,000.

We will keep you up to date on further details.
