Associated British Ports (ABP) has submitted a planning application for the development of a 96-acre section of its Stallingborough Interchange site to create high-quality automotive storage facilities. The site, located near the Ports of Immingham and Grimsby, aims to support both new and existing customers engaged in port-related import and export activities.
- Site acquisition: ABP purchased the 227.5-acre freehold site in December 2023 as part of its property strategy.
- Proposed features: The planning application includes provisions for automotive open storage, up to 12,000 square metres of associated buildings, infrastructure, landscaping, and ground-mounted solar panels.
- Green initiatives: The project includes biodiversity-enhancing landscaping and solar panels to supply renewable energy to the development.
ABP plans to develop 70 acres of the site specifically for automotive storage, supporting the Ports of Immingham and Grimsby. This expansion aligns with expected demand growth in energy generation, automotive logistics, and bulk warehousing.
The site, located adjacent to the A180 dual carriageway and close to the Humber Link Road, offers direct access to motorway networks and port facilities. It is part of a broader Stallingborough development, which includes plans for up to 1.5 million square feet of industrial and manufacturing space.
Originally agricultural land, the site has been designated for employment use in the local plan since 2013 and forms part of the original Enterprise Zones in the area.
ABP aims to begin construction in 2025, advancing its ambition to deliver state-of-the-art port logistics infrastructure.
