Today’s main story
Swiss Post has launched a campaign to convince the general public of the benefits of advertising mail. The postal operator hopes that via the campaign and its “i love advertising” stickers, it can revive a part of its business that has seen revenues fall over the years.
The Swiss Post campaign has been running since the start of the year, but has only been launched in some key Swiss regions in recent days.
On its website, the Swiss Post says that “unaddressed advertising means appealing offers are delivered straight to your letter box”.
The national postal operator is offering all Swiss residents the opportunity to have stickers sent to them that can be placed on their letterboxes to declare willingness to receive ad mail.
According to media reports in Switzerland, Swiss Post is urging the public to change its attitude to ad mail in order to save the postal worker jobs and help the country’s printing industry. The company claims that several hundred jobs are at stake.
When asked about the damage to the environment that is done as a result of paper mail ads, Swiss Post claims that since 2017, its ad mail deliveries have been carbon neutral.
