Haulier fined €2,200 in Netherlands for use of analogue tachograph

Commercial vehicle checks conducted by the Dutch Road Transport Inspectorate on Tuesday resulted in punishments being issued to a driver and haulier in connection with two separate incidents.

During one of the inspections on the A1 near Apeldoorn, a lorry attracted attention because it made a lot of noise. During the subsequent inspection, a wheel on the trailer turned out to be loose. The driver was reported and the wheel had to be repaired on the spot before the vehicle could continue on its journey.

Meanwhile, during another check on the A67 near Geldrop on the same day, inspectors checked a vehicle with a 2012 registration.

The truck was equipped with an analogue tachograph that should have been a digital tachograph according to the inspectors. As a result, the driver’s employer as fined €2,200 and as the vehicle came from outside the EU, the fine had to be paid on the spot.
