Roger Warnes Transport has become the latest British haulier to clash with parking management services firm ParkingEye. The Norfolk-based road transport firm say they are willing to go to court over the fines the parking company have sent them.

As reported by Motor Transport, Roger Warnes Transport insists it had paid for its parking.

In order to avoid the dispute over the alleged unpaid fines reaching court, the bulk haulier has written directly to ParkingEye’s chief executive.

In the letter, addressed to CEO Phil Boynes, the haulier said:

Please be assured that this and all outstanding payments were made at the time of parking. We have contacted the Parking Eye Team on numerous occasions and explained the situation but to no avail. This letter directly to you forms part of our demonstrable efforts to bring these issues to a close without recourse to the courts.

Earlier this month, Roger Warnes Transport’ operations director Ian Barclay revealed to motortransport.co.uk that it had been receiving as many as 6 parking tickets per week over the last three years at areas monitored by ParkingEye. On each occasion, it was claimed that the haulier had not paid for the parking.

It is said that Mr Barclay has grown tired of having to take the time to send receipts as evidence, and has simply opted to ignore the false fines instead.

The operations director believes the false fines are likely down to human error. However, after receiving information that ParkingEye was considering legal action over the fines, Mr Barclay told Motor Transport that he was “absolutely” willing to prove his company’s innocence in court.

Readers may recall that ParkingEye also had something of a dispute with Whites Transport Services earlier this year.

Whites has a depot located very close to Membury Services on the A4, where the ParkingEye company are responsible for ensuring parking is paid. ParkingEye had sent the haulier 5 parking fines for long stays at Membury services, despite the fact Pete White’s trucks were parked at his depot.

After haulage boss Pete White fired off a witty letter to ParkingEye explaining the situation, the fines were cancelled. However, the company made no apology whatsoever for the hassle it had caused.
