According to Lithuanian news website lrytas.lt, the case concerns a 44-year-old Ukrainian lorry driver who works for a logistics company located on in Žemaitės Street in the town of Šiauliai. The police are currently investigating the matter.

The victim of the alleged attack claims that he went to the head of the company to find out why he had not yet received the €3,000 he had been promised for his work. The driver says his employer did not talk constructively and instead struck him on his body several times.

Following the incident, the driver went to Šiauliai Hospital, where he was diagnosed with bruises to his head, chest and abdomen. After being released, the Ukrainian then contacted the police, who launched a pre-trial investigation into the assault – interviewing both the victim and the alleged perpetrator.

If the truck driver’s claims turn out to be true, the head of the logistics firm will not only have to pay the driver his unpaid salary, but also have to stand trial for assault. This could see the haulage boss sentenced to community service or even a year behind bars.
