In accordance with a directive from the Austrian Federal Ministry of Environment, Innovation, and Technology (BMK), supplementary bans on truck traffic will be implemented on a specific highway leading up to Christmas.

On December 22 and 23, there will be a prohibition on heavy goods vehicles traveling along the A10 Tauern motorway. This restriction pertains to the operation of trucks or articulated vehicles with a permissible total weight exceeding 7.5 tons, as well as trucks with trailers where the sum of the maximum permissible total masses of both vehicles exceeds 7.5 tons.

The restriction is applicable today, December 22, from 13:00 to 19:00:

  • On the southbound lane toward Villach, between the Salzburg junction (intersection of A10 with A1) and the Pongau junction, for journeys to Italy or Slovenia, or if they are on the route.
  • On the northbound lane toward Salzburg, between the Rennweg junction and the Golling junction, for destinations in Germany or the Czech Republic, or if the route passes through any of these countries.

On Saturday, December 23, the traffic ban on the A10 is in effect from 7:00 to 15:00:

  • On the southbound lane toward Villach, between the Salzburg junction and the Pongau junction.
  • On the northbound lane toward Salzburg, between the Rennweg junction and the Golling junction.

The ban excludes vehicles transporting slaughtered cattle, perishable food, and beverages to tourist regions. Additionally, combined transport (road-rail) is exempt if the driver can provide confirmation of a train reservation containing information about the vehicle’s registration number or the date and time of the train departure
