Are there some parts of a Volvo Truck you like and others that need some improvement? Would you be happy to put the best features together and build the best possible lorry you can imagine? Then why don’t you check out Volvo’s latest game, the new Augmented Reality app called the Volvo Truck Builder, and see whether you can build something better than engineers have come up with.

The Augmented Reality app (AR app) is an addition to the Volvo Truck Builder; it is available in Germany and in the Netherlands. With the truck builder app, you can build your own Volvo and the augmented reality add-on makes it possible to display your configuration in any environment.

“A truck configured in the Volvo Truck Builder is, as it were, added to reality. This means that the new Volvo FM, FMX, FH or FH16 can be placed in any environment, such as in a parking lot, next to existing trucks in the fleet, or even in your kitchen,” explains Roeland Ruygt, sales director Volvo Trucks Netherlands.

The scale of the projection can be determined by the user. It is also possible to walk around the truck to get a good impression.

We want to improve the product experience remotely with this app. It is no longer necessary to see the truck in real life for a good first impression. A good impression of the vehicle can be gain from a distance. And that is a really big advantage, especially in this corona time,” continues Roeland Ruygt.

In order to optimally apply Augmented Reality, you must first assemble a Volvo truck in the Volvo Truck Builder. After this, you can proceed directly to the AR app and place and view the truck in any environment. The AR app not only makes it possible to admire the truck in different colours and configurations from the outside but the interior can also be viewed up close. To do this, the user can switch between an ex and interior view and take pictures of it.
