The new measure will take effect on Sunday, April 24th. Currently, the restriction for trucks, which applies on the AP-7 motorway in Catalonia between kilometre 5 (Girona-Norte) and kilometre 216 in El Vendrell, is active every Sunday. HGVs can only drive in this section on the right-hand lane and at a maximum speed of 80 km/h.
However, from April 24, the restrictions will only be applied on Sundays and public holidays.
Then truck drivers will have to drive exclusively in the right-hand lane and at speeds of up to 80 km/h, reports Fenadismer, Spain’s haulage association. This will be the case on days when traffic is expected to be heavy, e.g. during the summer months. The Catalan Road Traffic Service will announce the application of the measure in advance.
At the moment, it is already known that the restrictions will apply on the AP-7 in both directions between km 84.5 and 281, from 5pm to 22 10pm on the following dates:
- Sunday June 26th
- Monday August 15th
- Monday September 26th.
