Checks on an Amazon platform in France: 49 infractions out of 137 drivers

Subcontractor drivers working for one of the Amazon warehouses in Seynod, France, were checked by the French operational anti-fraud committee (Codaf) last Monday. 49 out of 137 drivers committed some kind of offence.

Inspectors of the Direccte (Regional Directorates for Business, Competition, Consumption, Labor and Employment – a ministerial body watching out for economic and social issues) were focusing on compliance with drivers’ hours’ regulations, proper documentation, how regularly the subcontractors were hired.

They checked subcontractors employed by 16 companies driving vehicles under 3.5 tonnes.

A total of 49 offences were recorded. In 40 cases, the offence related to insurance; in 2 cases, drivers were working under the effect of drugs; there were 2 technical faults and 2 drivers were working without a permit.

Amazon in France is the subject of increased vigilance by the anti-fraud services and the police due to the a number of violations made by its subcontractors in recent times.
