For many long-distance lorry drivers, Christmas Day is just another day at work. It can be an emotional time and many drivers feel lonely and isolated,” reads the GoFundMe campaign’s description.

Many HGV drivers are unable to get back to their families over Christmas and will continue to work throughout the Christmas period to make sure people all around the UK can all get their hands on food and presents at the shops.

Delivering unexpected gifts to the drivers on Christmas Day is a small way that we can show our appreciation and gratitude,” adds the organiser.

This is the third year for the Northampton-based NN1 Personnel, an HGV driver agency, has spread kindness towards the drivers.
As company owner Damien Sodel explained to Northampton Chronicle & Echo, one of the drivers working for the agency came up with the idea in 2019. The lorry driver used to be a long-haul trucker himself and spent Christmases away from his family. He knew how lonely and emotional this time can be for those who cannot be with their loved ones.

The story touched the business owner’s heart, who then visited multiple local truckstops and bays around Northampton, delivering gifts to drivers so the surprise could brighten up their Christmas away.

This year, NN1 was hoping to be able to make 100 packages and their plan was funded in less than a week.

The fundraiser is still open and can be found here, if you wish to join the campaign and add to the pot.
