CMA CGM boosts rail and air freight offering as its Q3 profits hit $5.6 billion

CMA CGM has made new announcements regarding its air freight and rail freight offerings. In January, the company will launch a dedicated block-train service between Duisburg and Fos/Marseille. CMA CGM shall also boost its air freight offering via the purchase of 4 Airbus A350F aircraft. Meanwhile, the company has announced a Q3 net profit of $5.6 billion.

CMA CGM boosts rail and air freight offering as its Q3 profits hit $5.6 billion

The four aforementioned aircraft will be utilised by CMA CGM’s Air Cargo, division, which was set up as recently as February. The A350Fs , which have a capacity of 100 metric tons and a range of nearly 9,000 kilometers, will join the 4 Airbus A330-200F currently in its fleet. Two Boeing 777 freighter aircraft are also due to start in spring 2022.

As for the rail freight service, it shall offer intermodal solutions to serve the Rhur region in Germany – particularly Duisburg area.

The two new rail freight links offer the following:

  • Service with a weekly capacity of 96 TEU
  • Rotation Fos > Duisburg D3T > Lyon > Fos
  • Connecting with 2 core services MEX and MEX2 from and to Asia

  • Transit time port to Ramp Duisburg via Fos 2 days

CMA CGM dedicated Block-Train Duisburg via Marseille

  • Service with a weekly capacity of 105 TEU designed for 45 HC PW transportation
  • Rotation Marseille > Duisburg D3T > Marseille
  • Connecting with 3 core services TMX1, TMX2 and Euronaf from and to East Med and North Africa
  • TMX1 m/v DINA TRADER voy. 0HV34E1MA, TMX2 m/v MORAGE voy. 0HW31W1MA
  • EURONAF m/v ATLANTIC GENEVA voy. 1VYXNS1MA & m/v ATLANTIC MERCHANT voy. 1VYXTW1MA

Q3 profits

The company has also announced Q3 net profits of of $5.6 billion. That represents a 60% rise on Q2, with the company optimistic Q4 will look even better.
