The discovery comes from data compiled by LinkedIn Economic Graph researchers, who examined millions of jobs between January 2017 and July 31 2021 to calculate a growth rate for each job title.
“To be ranked, a job title needed to see consistent growth across our membership base, as well as have grown to a meaningful size by 2021. Identical job titles across different seniority levels were grouped and ranked together. Internships, volunteer positions, interim roles and student roles were excluded, and jobs where hiring was dominated by a small handful of companies in each country were also excluded,” says the business-focused social media platform.
The position of customs officer was number 1 on the ‘2022 Jobs on the Rise list’, followed by the role of machine learning engineer. The profession of import specialist also made it into the top 3.
According to LinkedIn, the top locations for hiring customs officers are London, Derby, and Worksop. The social media platform adds that 46.7% of customs officers are male, with 53.3% female. The median when it comes to experience in the profession is 4.6 year. Those transitioning into the role are often customer service representatives, import specialists.
As for the position of import specialist, which of course concerns logistics, the top locations for hiring are London, Felixstowe, Manchester and Dover. 45.5% are male and 54.5% female, while the median amount of experience is 6.4. When it comes to people entering the profession, they typically come from a supply chain coordinator, account manager, or a customer service representative background.
