Martin Kučera, a trucker from the Czech Republic was very lucky. He fell off the bridge in Genoa and survived. Despite this traumatic experience, he does not want to give up working behind the wheel.

This was no miracle, I was just extremely lucky,” says Martin Kučera in the first interview for Czech media.

On August 14, Martin – a trucker with over 20 years of experience, was going across the Morandi bridge in Genoa. Navigation directed him there, although he preferred to take a different route.

Martin recalls that the road began to heave, then he heard a bang and the road collapsed. He learned about the fact that he fell 45 meters from the Internet.

A total of 43 people were killed in the crash. The Czech suffered only a tongue injury and had three broken ribs. He was treated in a hospital in Genoa, and later transferred to a clinic in Prague. As he admitted in an interview, he wants to get back to work as soon as possible.

This event had nothing to do with my profession, it was simply ‚intervention from above’ – admits Martin in an interview for the Czech media.
