Dachser and Fercam have announced the formation of a joint venture for general cargo and contract logistics in Italy. The joint venture, which will be called “DACHSER & FERCAM Italia S.r.l.”, will be based in Bolzano, South Tyrol.

DACHSER will hold an 80% stake in the joint venture, while Fercam will hold a 20% stake. The joint venture will employ 920 people at 43 locations in Italy. It is expected to generate a turnover of around 400 million euros in 2022.

The joint venture will be led by Dr Gianfranco Brillante, currently Logistics and Distribution Manager at Fercam. He will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the joint venture.

For Fercam, the joint venture will provide access to Dachser’s global network and resources and will also help the company to expand its business in Italy and beyond.

In a statement, the CEOs of Dachser and Fercam said the joint venture was a “win-win” for both companies. They said the joint venture would “create a leading provider of general cargo and contract logistics in Italy” and would “benefit the customers of both companies”.

The joint venture is subject to regulatory approval. However, both companies are confident that the approval process will be completed shortly and the new business is expected to begin operations in early 2024.
