The recovery comes after a subdued start to the year, particularly in the European market. Daimler Truck sold 1,232 battery electric lorries and buses in Q2, up from 759 in Q1 and 648 in the same period last year; marking a 90% year-on-year increase. This growth reflects Daimler Truck’s strategic push toward zero-emission transport: the company has previously stated it aims for 50% of its European sales to be battery-electric by 2030, equating to around 30,000 electric trucks annually.

Mercedes-Benz Trucks, the brand’s core segment for Europe, delivered 38,294 units in Q2, almost identical to Q2 2024 (38,481), but 14.5% higher than the 33,446 units sold in Q1. This points to a strong quarter-on-quarter recovery in the region.

At group level, Daimler Truck sold 106,715 vehicles in Q2 2025, representing a 6.9% increase compared to the 99,812 units delivered in Q1. However, this figure is 5% lower than in Q2 2024.

Quarter-on-quarter, sales in the North American market slipped by 1.1% to 38,580 units (Q1: 38,992), while Trucks Asia grew by 6.7% to 26,443 units and Daimler Buses rose by 13.2% to 7,027 units.

The company integrated its China and India operations into the Mercedes-Benz Trucks segment at the start of 2025. Adjusted for this new structure, the Mercedes-Benz Trucks division remains the most stable of the group’s major segments.
