DFDS and Nomad Foods have signed a new five-year, multimillion-euro contract that consolidates their existing agreements into a single strategic partnership, the companies announced on 3 April.

The deal aims to streamline Nomad Foods’ supply chain operations by bringing together transport, customs, and logistics services under one umbrella. The agreement also includes commitments to reducing environmental impact, with both parties pledging to continue investing in sustainable transport solutions such as solar-panelled and double-deck trailers, as well as alternative fuel technologies.

DFDS has been working with Nomad Foods since 2018, initially providing transport and distribution services for the Birds Eye brand in the UK. The partnership was significantly expanded in 2023, following DFDS’s acquisition of McBurney Transport Group, a long-standing logistics partner of Nomad Foods since 2003.

“This extended partnership allows us to improve Nomad Foods’ supply chain while continuing to focus on low-emission initiatives,” said Matt O’Dell, Managing Director of DFDS England. He added that the two companies have been collaborating for over two decades to develop tailored logistics solutions.

Simon Stokoe, Group Logistics Director at Nomad Foods, described the agreement as a logical next step.

“Bringing everything together, underpinned by a shared mission for more sustainable transportation and supply chain efficiencies, makes good business sense,” he said.

Nomad Foods owns several major frozen food brands in Europe, including Birds Eye, Goodfella’s, Aunt Bessie’s, iglo, and Findus.

The contract is expected to support further supply chain integration and contribute to both companies’ sustainability goals over the coming years.
