DHL’s digital freight forward platform Saloodo! is to extend its functionality as it looks to link individual markets together. The platform is available on 4 continents and in more than 50 countries, and will soon allow users to submit offers via WhatsApp.

The logistics start-up, owned by Deutsche Post, also announced today that it is ready to be used globally for road freight transport. It is now possible, for example, to arrange international transports from the EU to Turkey or to Middle East & Africa (MEA) and vice versa.

Also, European shippers will be able to order truck transports in convoy for the first time. This option has been extensively tested in the MEA regions in advance, giving shippers of high-value goods the option of more secure transport.

A new feature that will also be introduced for the European road freight market in the near future is the possibility to submit transport offers via WhatsApp.

Transport service providers can be informed about new transport requests via WhatsApp and then enter their offer.

If the shipper agrees to the offer, the service provider will be informed and all the transport-relevant information and documents will be sent to them automatically.
