The arrests concern an attempted theft followed by a revenge attack that occurred in the early hours of Tuesday 21st March in Haute-Garonne.

The victims of the theft, a father-and-son truck driving duo, claim they have suffered multiple fuel thefts in recent times. As a result, they decided to install a special alarm device that reacts to any unauthorised attempt to access the fuel tank.

As Le Depeche writes, at around 2am on March 21st, the alarm went off – springing the elder lorry driver into action. He jumped out of the cab and chased the thieves before getting his son to drive his vehicle towards the thieves and ram into them.

The resulting impact with the truck left the thieves injured, with one suffering serious injuries that are expected to keep him in hospital for at least 10 days.

The two lorry drivers were immediately taken into custody; their fate is as yet unknown. Meanwhile, the thieves, both Georgian nationals, are due to appear in court in Toulouse this week in connection with their crimes.
