Reacting to recent press reports, Trans.info’s editorial team contacted the Port of Dover Authority to verify whether demurrage charges had increased since 1 September. According to the Port Authority, the reports are incorrect; the fee increase has been postponed until 1 January 2025.

The current rate for demurrage in the Unaccompanied Trailer Park at the Eastern Docks is £81.30 per 24 hours or part thereof. Trailers collected within a 24-hour period are exempt from charges. However, trailers exceeding the initial 24-hour period will be charged for the entire duration of their stay, calculated from the time and date of arrival.
