DPD Polska has announced an expansion of its collaboration with parcel locker operator SwipBox. Together, they are set to introduce over 5,000 Infinity outdoor parcel lockers for customers across Poland.

The deployment of the free-standing and touchless parcel lockers will see the DPD Pickup network expand further on its existing 25,000 points.

SwipBox claims the advantage of these bluetooth-connected lockers is that they can be “effortlessly configured and installed in locations that were previously inaccessible to conventional parcel locker machines”.

Moreover, SwipBox notes that they can be used as temporary machines in locations with high seasonality, such as beach resorts or mountain regions.

Another key feature highlighted by SwipBox is the ability of the Infinity Lockers to function without a power connection, thanks to a built-in battery, which SwipBox emphasises makes them eco-friendly and energy-efficient.

Commenting on the locker expansion, Łukasz Zembowicz, Member of the Management Board and Sales & Marketing Director at DPD Polska, said:

“For our clients, we are creating the most accessible shipping and receiving network in Poland – DPD Pickup, which is entering the next, intensive stage of development. Our parcel machines meet the expectations of customers who value comfort and convenience in sending and returning parcels. We select locations selectively and in accordance with local customer needs in order to build a dense network of vending machines, because we believe in the slogan – ‘closer is better.’ Thanks to the DPD Mobile application, you can conveniently send and receive parcels from the machine, but not only that. DPD Mobile offers practical functions, such as the ability to track, send and manage the shipment over time. If our plans change, the parcel can be redirected to the nearest convenient collection point and picked up on the same day.”

Michal Czechowski, Managing Director of SwipBox Polska, added:

“Our partnership increases comfort and convenience for end users. It also benefits the entire e-commerce market through additional shipping options. DPD Polska has always focused on new technologies and innovative solutions. Together we are making a huge step forward by successfully implementing Infinity technology. A densely distributed network of machines is able to meet the needs related to the number of parcels in a given location. Thanks to the low installation costs, which in our case is carried out by one person – in the absence of available lockers, we can immediately add another module and thus increase the capacity available in a given location.”
