An HGV equipped with a GPS tracking system was reported to be stolen in the Netherlands back in the middle of November, according to hln.be.

The owner used a tracking system to locate the vehicle and asked the police to check on it in Groot-Bijgaarden.

When the officers arrived on the scene they found a 40-year-old Albanian man in the cab equipped with a grinder, a drill, and other tools that are often used to break into lorries.

The police officers arrested the man. However, he maintained that he hadn’t stolen the vehicle. He said he was there to fix it and was promised 400 euros for doing the job.

However, the judge didn’t believe him. The defendant had already been sentenced to 15 months in prison in 2015 for attempted theft, and, according to the prosecutor’s office, he was clearly part of an organization that specializes in the theft of trucks.

The court sentenced him to 18 months in prison, half of which has to be served.
