Drones will control the roads in Spain during the long weekend

The Spanish are doing what they can to ensure the highest level of safety on the roads in the country during the extended May weekend. The local traffic police has been using drones to control traffic since yesterday.

May 1 is a public holiday in Spain. Therefore, the local traffic police want to ensure road safety in the best possible way.

According to the General Directorate of Road Traffic (DGT), officers will monitor the highways from the air. The traffic police have at its disposal 5 drones with a range of 500 m. The equipment will monitor Spanish roads from a height of 120 m. The controls began on Friday at 3pm and they will continue until Tuesday, May 1 to midnight.

The long May weekend will be the next stage of drone tests, although DGT has already announced the purchase of another seven devices.
