DVLA delays: truckers urged to apply for vocational driving licences ASAP
HGV drivers have been advised to apply for their vocational driving licences as soon as possible due to delays at the DVLA caused by coronavirus and industrial action.
According to the RHA, the DVLA has warned that paper applications, including those that require additional documentation after an online application, are expected to to be processed within 6-10 weeks. In addition, it is said that there may be delays in the processing of more complex transactions such as the medical investigations.
The RHA warns that it has received numerous reports from members stating that drivers are not getting their licenses renewed in sufficient time to allow them to drive. This is especially true for drivers doing international work.
The latest update from the DVLA regarding the situation can be found on its website here.
