Eddie Stobart has publicly congratulated one of its lorry drivers for completing 43 years of dedicated service to the company.
The driver, named Neville, started out working at Eddie Stobart’s Carlisle depot back in 1978. Since then, he has clocked up an incredible 5.16 million miles on the road – enough to drive around the world 207 times.
To mark the occasion, Neville was photographed with his new registration plate in front of Eddie Stobarts’ blue-liveried truck, which hauls motorcycles and equipment for the BMW TAS Racing team.
In November of last year, US retail giant Wallmart did similar in order to honour one of its drivers. During 38 years of service, American truck driver Warren Greeno drove 5 million miles without a single accident.
After five million safe miles, some might think that Greeno would be ready to drive off into the sunset, but he reckons he has a few more miles left in him. He wants to work another 14 to 15 months, during he which figures he’ll drive another 170,000 miles.
It appears it’s the same story with Neville over in the UK, who is showing no signs of giving up trucking just yet.
Congratulations to our driver Neville on your 43 years’ service! Starting at our Carlisle depot, he’s driven some 5.16million miles in that time, that’s equivalent to driving around the world 207 times! Here’s Nev with his new plate to his BMW TAS Racing BSB unit! #proud pic.twitter.com/gRYQ7I4biw
