In Egypt, a woman behind the wheel of a car no longer surprises anyone… However, a woman driving a truck is an extremely rare sight. Egyptian Ferial Khalil fights against stereotypes and shows that women also cope with typically male professions.

When Ferial turned 17, she decided to start earning a living and became a taxi driver. It was two decades ago. One day, when she was in a traffic jam, she heard the comments of two men about her. „A woman behind the wheel of a taxi?” One of them was surprised. „She drives what she can,” replied the trucker. That is when Ferial decided to get a driving license for trucks.

Many of her colleagues say her gender does not matter, but not everyone agrees. Those who know her say that Ferial treats them like her children. Regardless of how she is treated and perceived by men, Ferial does her work and shows that women cannot be stereotyped.
