Elisabeth Borne became the minister of french transport on 18 May.Until recently her views on the matter of the “Road Alliance” and the revision of delegation directive remained a mystery. However, her last statement proved that she intends to continue the policies regarding transport of her predecessor Alain Vidal.
After announcing the mobility package Borne declared that the European Commission’s proposals are in line with the stance taken by President Macron and the French government.
We are particularly pleased that transport is being regarded as linked to the directive on delegating employees” – she said.
The French Minister of Transport noted, however, that the solutions proposed by Violeta Bulc need to be improved. She said that during the debate the Council of the European Union and the European Parliament she will make the rules more strict.
A reminder – The Mobility Package which was presented by the European Commission on 31 May includes proposals for changing regulations for road transport in Europe.
Elisabeth Born informed also that she will be fighting for the final form of the regulations so that they are clear enough:
Only clear and operational rules that can be effectively implemented and monitored will be deemed credible to meet the expectations of our citizens and companies for a stronger Europe, more caring, clear and just. I think the other signatories of the Road Alliance will agree with me on this matter.”
