These developments, scheduled for the first quarter of the year, aim to meet the growing needs of customers in the region by significantly improving sorting capacity.
In Kabelsketal, near Leipzig/Halle Airport, a new facility is under construction, covering an expansive property of over 17,000 square meters.
This space will house a warehouse of approximately 3,400 square meters, along with over 850 square meters of office space.
The site will boast enhanced sorting capacity, doubling its capability compared to the previous setup. The facility will feature loading docks for trucks and vans, charging stations for electric vehicles, and a new loading and unloading concept designed to streamline warehouse traffic and enhance occupational safety. An S-Bahn connection near the location will ensure efficient transportation links to Leipzig and Halle.
Simultaneously, the Karlsruhe location will undergo expansion and modernization on its existing 3,600 square meter property.
The upgraded facility will feature a larger warehouse of around 2,500 square meters, equipped with a truck loading ramp and 24 loading positions for vans. Automation in the parcel hall will reduce sorting time by about a third and nearly double the sorting capacity. The expansion will also create three new jobs at the location, supplementing the current 17 team members.

These developments follow the opening of a new FedEx Express location in Nufringen in 2022 and the expansion of the Air Gateway in Stuttgart in spring 2023, reinforcing FedEx’s commitment to providing improved services and meeting the demands of its customers in the region.
