Hauliers and staff at Felixstowe Port will benefit from a refurbished dining area, all day food, click & collect orders, and menus based on local ingredients. That's according to ESS, who have won the catering contract for the UK's largest port.

The deal, which is to last 6 years, was reported by online industry magazine The Caterer on Wednesday.

It is said that ESS, who provide catering and facilities services at over 250 UK locations, will be responsible for a “full refurbishment of the dining facilities”.

To achieve this, two catering outlets will be redesigned and a click and collect service is to be introduced too.

“The port’s 2,500 employees and hauliers will have access to all-day dining options and high-street style concepts with a focus on locally sourced ingredients. Staff will also undergo ESS’s customer training programme,” writes The Caterer.

Commenting on the news, Bob Gray, managing director of ESS defence, marine and aerospace, said:

“We’re excited to be working with the Port of Felixstowe to enhance the catering provision for its employees and tenants. Our team has been busy drawing up plans for an extensive refurbishment project which will commence shortly after the contract goes live. This will deliver attractive restaurant spaces coupled with appetising food offers to ensure customers can enjoy their breaks.”
