Last night, the final of the “International Truck of the Year 2018” competition was held. Find out which truck won.
During yesterday’s gala in Lyon, the jury composed of journalists from the automotive industry and transportation across Europe has chosen the winner of the “International Truck of the Year 2018” competition.
The participants were:
– modernised range of XF and CF models,
– new range of Scania XT vehicles for construction industry,
– natural gas Iveco Stralis NP,
– the latest Mercedes Actros.
DAF got the most votes –104 – thus defeating its most powerful competitors, i.e. Iveco Stralis NP (96 votes) and Scania XT (59 votes).
The jury appreciated the improved drive system of the Dutch trucks, the latest automated 12-speed ZF Traxon gearbox and new rear axles. Together, all of these elements provide improved drivability, fuel efficiency and smooth gear changing.
The jury also paid tribute to numerous energy-saving features that reduce fuel consumption, intelligent assistants, integration of drive system elements and reduced weight of the vehicle.
