Transport Secretary Grant Shapps has shot down rumours that the French Government had made a negative coronavirus PCR test a mandatory requirement for lorry drivers entering from the UK.

The RHA’s Rod McKenzie tweeted earlier today that Grant Shapps had told him the French Government were still accepting the lateral flow test results as normal.

According to Sky News, the French PM had announced that the faster lateral flow tests lorry drivers have been using would no longer be accepted.

However, it has now emerged that lorry drivers are exempt from the requirement to have a PCR test.

„I think the report [this morning] was erroneous,” Transport Secretary Grant Shapps told Sky News earlier today, who said he was in „very close contact” with his French counterpart.
