Road police operating on the Valence motorway in South-East France have seized a van that was carrying dozens of bicycles on its exterior, contributing to a massive overload.
According to French news website ledauphine.com, the incident occured yesterday at around 10:30 am.
The Gendarmerie de la Drôme immediately saw that the van visibly overloaded with bicycles that were far from secure and represented a serious road hazard.
After inspecting the lorry, the road police discovered that the van was overloaded by 5.5 tonnes. The driver was traveling to the South to take a boat to Tunisia. His vehicle was confiscated due to the offence.
