Haulier fined €450 for truck’s fuel tanks exceeding maximum permitted for ADR transport

A haulier ended up being fined for an uncommon reason in Poland last week, as has been reported by the Polish road transport inspectorate from the Wielkopolska region.

During an inspection on August 2nd, it was found that goods were being transported by a commercial vehicle equipped with fuel tanks with a total capacity exceeding the maximum permitted for ADR transport.

It turned out that the total capacity of the fuel tanks on the truck and refrigerated trailer combo from Macedonia was 1,665 litres.

The truck’s tank had a capacity of 1,420 litres, while an additional tank on the trailer had a capacity of 245 litres.

According to the regulations, the total capacity of the tanks could not exceed 1,500 litres, says the inspectorate.

Administrative proceedings were initiated against the carrier, who shall be fined PLN 2,000 (€450).
