The Göttingen motorway police in Germany used an unmarked van with a GoPro camera mounted on the roof during a recent Europe-wide campaign which focused on distraction in traffic”.

As police explain, one of the most important distracting factors during driving is the usage of smart devices. When a driver is messing with their phone, they can’t react to the happenings on the road in time which can easily end in an accident.

With the help of the GoPro camera, German police officers documented phone usage while driving, and then confronted the drivers for their misconduct.

Motorists didn’t get away with a warning though, officers issued hefty fines, a police statement reports.
