German police officers were out knocking on the doors of truck drivers as usual last weekend, but the reason on this occasion was rather different.

As explained by Andrea Möller of Winsen/Luhe motorway police, officers working on the A1 carried out “a special kind of truck inspection”.

Möller said the action involved “only kind words and sweets for well-being.”

The police officer stated that a short conversation to say thanks for their valuable work even prompted tears from more than one driver.

“After a grumpy look at first, there was a smile and the joy was very great,” said Möller.

The drivers received bags of cookies with inscription “it’s great that you’re there” written on the front.

“Drive carefully and take care of yourselves,” added Möller, concluding her post on Facebook.
