Greater Manchester Police (GMP) Traffic yesterday revealed that due to “ongoing residents concerns" officers are seeking to clamp down on HGV drivers using roads with vehicle weight limits.

Via Twitter yesterday afternoon, GMP Traffic said that they had heard “ongoing” concerns from residents about lorries flouting weight limits on residential roads in the Greater Manchester area.

The police specifically referred to Swan Lane in Hindley as an example.

Referring to the green Scania photographed above, the GMP Traffic Twitter page jokingly said the lorry was “slightly” above 7.5 tons and added that its driver was issued a Graduated Fixed Penalty Notice.

GMP Traffic also warned that it would be conducting similar checks in other areas and would report back.

Then, just some 20 minutes later, GMP Traffic tweeted about two similar cases on Park Road in the Trafford Park area.
