The collaboration utilises GXO’s shared transport network, which combines deliveries for multiple retailers to reduce environmental impact, urban congestion, and transportation costs.
According to GXO, their shared transport fleet typically consolidates deliveries from five different customers, stopping at 8 to 10 locations on average during a single journey. This approach is designed to increase efficiency and lower carbon emissions compared to dedicated transport services, which can generate 5kg more CO2 per litre if vehicles are not fully loaded.
Gill Smith, Managing Director of The Perfume Shop, emphasised the importance of sustainable logistics in supporting their retail operations. She stated that the partnership with GXO has allowed the company to maintain efficient and cost-effective deliveries while reducing its environmental footprint.
The initiative aligns with broader urban policies aimed at limiting vehicle emissions and promoting cleaner transport solutions. By reducing the number of delivery vehicles entering city centres, the shared network also addresses growing concerns about urban congestion.
