The Swedish Transport Agency carried out a check of the haulage company in January and February 2020. The officers learned that drivers hours’ regulations had been violated regularly: they found 24 occasions when drivers drove with someone else’s card.

A single driver had driven with someone else’s driver’s card on 14 occasions during the control period.

The offence when drivers used other people’s driver’s cards is a particularly serious one. The fact that this could happen at the company shows there are major shortcomings when it comes to planning and checking drivers’ work,” wrote the investigator to the haulier in the decision.

The Swedish Transport Agency also checked payroll information at the Swedish Tax Agency as well as permits and licenses.

The haulier employed both Swedish and foreign drivers. According to the findings of the agency, none of the foreign drivers were registered in the posting register.

The total penalty issued to the company is 851,500 Swedish krona (around €83,600). However, according to the Swedish regulations, the final penalty should be calculated with the company’s annual sales in mind, therefore, the actual fine is 308,474 Swedish krona, which is approximately €30,300 euros.
