HGV bans in Europe this September

This September there will be public holidays in Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Liechtenstein, all of which see the implementation of HGV bans. There are also 4 Sunday truck bans in Italy.

The list of additional truck bans in Europe this September is as follows:

September 1st (Thursday)

Slovakia – the truck ban will apply from 0:01 to 22:00.  I applies to heavy goods vehicles with a maximum permissible weight exceeding 7.5 tons and vehicles with a DMC above 3.5 tons with a trailer or semi-trailer. Restrictions apply on motorways, express roads and first class roads.

September 8th (Thursday)

Liechtenstein  – the ban is in force from 0:01 to 24.00 and applies to heavy goods vehicles with a DMC above 3.5 t and sets with a DMC above 5 tonnes.

September 15th (Thursday)

Slovakia – the ban applies from 0:01 to 22:00 and concerns the aforementioned vehicles and roads.

September 28th (Wednesday)

Czech Republic – the ban is valid from 13:00 to 22:00. It covers lorries and vehicle combinations with a DMC above 7.5 tonnes. Restrictions apply on motorways, express roads and first class roads.

Sunday truck bans in Italy

According to the Italian road transport press, bans for vehicles over 7.5 tons are in force in the country on all roads outside urban areas.

The calendar of the bans is as follows:

  • Sunday 4th September 2022 from 07:00 to 22:00
  • Sunday 11 September 2022 from 07:00 to 22:00
  • Sunday 18 September 2022 from 07:00 to 22:00
  • Sunday 25 September 2022 from 07:00 to 22:00
