The accident occurred last Saturday morning on the site of shipping company DFDS in the port of Ghent, reports pzc.nl.

The lorry driver, who was in Belgium to unload, had parked his vehicle and then walked behind his lorry. However, he is believed to have forgotten that he had not applied his handbrake.

The 52-year-old man noticed too late that his vehicle was moving, and he was crushed between his own tractor and another HGV.

The ambulance was noticed immediately. Unfortunately, they couldn’t revive the driver, who died on the spot from his injuries.
