The ban was originally scheduled to run from 15:00 on Saturday 31 August until 22:00 on Sunday 1 September. However, the restriction will now be suspended between 22:00 on Saturday and 06:00 on Sunday due to concerns over the extreme heat.
The ministry explained that driver health and safety concerns were the main reason for the decision.
“Waiting in a heated cab is not only unhealthy, it can also significantly affect the ability of professional drivers to concentrate after moving on,” it said. The intense heat inside stationary vehicles poses serious risks, potentially endangering both drivers and other road users.
